HONG KONG, March 7, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- UTStarcom (NASDAQ: UTSI), a global telecommunications infrastructure provider, will participate in the 2014 Optical Fiber Conference (OFC) in San Francisco to showcase the latest developments in its broadband and optical network infrastructure technology.
UTStarcom's delegation will be headed by Mr. William Wong, UTStarcom's Chief Executive Officer, and Tim Ti, Senior Vice President for Advanced Network Architecture and Strategic Business Development.
"The audience at OFC is on the forefront of the telecom and data networking trends and will be able to appreciate the advancements in our product lineup to improve broadband network infrastructure and operations," said Mr. William Wong. "UTStarcom's broadband technology facilitates the transition to networks that can more easily handle '4G' traffic and form the backbone of 'next gen' networks that deliver a rich, compelling and customized experience for end-users."
Showcasing Leadership in Broadband Infrastructure Design
UTStarcom's exhibit will display several new products that embody its "Simple Network, Simple Operation" approach to product design and network operation:
- The latest in its NetRing™ TN series line of Packed Optical Transport network products, based on MPLS-TP and Carrier Ethernet
- In-house designed Software Defined Networking (SDN)
- Dasan Gigabit-capable Passive Optical Network (GPON)
UTStarcom has ramped up product development in its broadband business as its customer base of cable service, telecommunications and broadband service providers looks for technology to meet consumers' growing desire for mobile connectivity and "on demand" information and entertainment programming.
In the past year, UTStarcom has added to its NetRing™ Packet Optical Transport line up, offering new features to allow quicker deployment, greater reliability and improved network operational efficiency. The company has also launched a major SDN initiative to offer customers a faster and more economical approach to construct networks and cloud-based solutions that significantly upgrade the end-user experience.
Leveraging Partner's Technology Platform
In addition, the UTStarcom exhibit will feature its Dasan Gigabit-capable Passive Optical Network, or GPON technology. This technology is a result of UTStarcom's partnership with Dasan Networks, one of Korea's leading Internet technology providers, and adds bandwidth access solutions to UTStarcom's packet optical transport product lineup.
Leading the Discussion on Cloud-Based Infrastructure
As part of its presence at the conference, UTStarcom will host a presentation titled "Enabling Infrastructure Beyond the Cloud," led by Mr. Tim Ti. That presentation will take place 3:00PM-4:00PM, March 13th in Expo Theater III of San Francisco's Moscone Center. UTStarcom will also hold meetings with industry analysts and executives from cable television, broadband and telecommunications service providers at its booth, No. 2303 in Hall C Expo Theater III.
